Two Sealth grads awarded scholarships

Two recent graduates of Chief Sealth High School have won Multicultural Achievement Program Scholarships for the upcoming 2008-2009 academic year at Western Washington University.

Dat Nguyen, son of Phong and Ngoc Nguyen, received a $2,000 Multicultural Achievement Program Scholarship, which is awarded to students who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership, and a commitment to multicultural issues and activities in school or the community.

Nguyen, an incoming freshman, is interested in majoring in international business. Nguyen is a former honor roll student and Student of the Month at Sealth and received a Perfect Attendance award, and participated in tennis and the Vietnamese and Latino clubs.

Mardiya Aga, daughter of Omar Intele and Seynaba Hadema of Seattle, received a $2,000 Multicultural Achievement Program Scholarship.

Aga, an incoming freshman, earned a 3.58 GPA at Sealth and is interested in majoring in pre-medicine. Aga received the Excellence in Academic Achievement award and volunteers at High Point Medical Clinic.
