Trader Joe's coming to Ballard

With the installation of Whole Foods put on hold in the Interbay neighborhood, Ballard will get a Trader Joe's.

Located in the heart of Ballard just east of the Ballard Bridge, Trader Joe's and LA Fitness will reside on a two-property site that will encompass the block bound by Northwest Ballard Way, 15th Avenue Northwest, 14th Avenue Northwest and Northwest Leary Way.

The development site is about 100,000 square feet and Trader Joes will occupy 12,120 square feet of proposed building space.

It will be located in the northwest corner of the east site (4609 14th Avenue Northwest) and LA Fitness will be taking the west side of the block.

There will be 468 parking spaces that will be provided between the two developments said Bryan Stevens, Seattle's Industrial Permit Liaison for the Department of Planning and Development.

The grocery store is projected to open in early to mid 2009.
