Kennedy boys return to state play

They are playing up a classification from last year, but the Kennedy Catholic Lancers boys basketball team is still making a return trip to the Tacoma Dome for state tournament action.

Kennedy went to the Class 3A tournament last year, but this year the Lancers will be going to the Class 4A tournament after earning a berth with a 55-49 win over Kentridge at Rogers High School on Friday.

That game was a loser-out, winner-to-state affair.

Kennedy opens state action Wednesday with another loser-out game.

The Lancers will do battle with Glacier Peak at 10:30 a.m.

The winner goes on to play at least two more games in a tournament that runs through placement action Saturday.

The state championship game will be played at 9 p.m. Saturday.
