Valerie Sutherland Ditty

Valerie was born June 10, 1834, in Hoquiam to William and Lillian Sutherland. She graduated from Hoquiam High School, class of 1952. She was married in 1954 to her life love and best friend, William Ditty. She studied journalism at the University of Washington, and had a lifetime love of linguistics easily seen in her passion for crossword puzzles.

Val had a flair for art and was accomplished in metal sculpture. She loved gardening and was a successful florist for years, specializing in local weddings and special occasions.

Valerie succumbed to a two-year battle with cancer July 20, 2007. She is survived by her husband, two sons, five grandchildren and numerous caring friends. She will be missed and remembered by all.
