Research ship plugs into Seahurst cameras

Monday, April 28, 2008

The Marine Science Center at Seahurst Park in Burien had an offshore visitor this week.

The R/V Thomas G. Thompson, a 275-foot scientific research ship operated by the University of Washington's Oceanography department, plugged into the center's underwater cameras to test oceanic equipment, according to Joe Weiss from the center.

The vessel moored in front of the center from Monday through Wednesday.

The center is run by the Highline School District as an environmental classroom for students.

Live pictures from the center's underwater cameras can be viewed at www.seahurst.apl.washington.edu.
