The momentous event of the ribbon cutting for the new town square! It's great that only about a third of the condos have deposits. How much of the retail space is occupied? Can you say white elephant? And our great city council wants to incorporate more tax burden?

Dear Citizens of Burien, I am both horrified and enraged after reading in the Seattle Times april 23 2009 our Burien City Manager Mike Martin was arrested Sunday on suspicion of drunken driving. According to the Seattle Times this is the second times Mike Martin has been caught for dui. Previously in 2006 he was caught for dui and hit and run!!! I am enraged on who hired this two time loser? I want some answers right now!! Our beloved city of Burien deserves far better than this two time dui loser. angry in Burien, Tai Oh

We are living in hard times. When we turn on the news, there is only bad news. For many years we have put our faith in money and houses. We are seeing that we can't put our faith in money and in houses. I am seeing that life is short. And one day we will die. There is a place called heaven and hell. God showed he was faithful by sending his only Son to die on the cross and arise on the third day. It was for all our sin. My faith is stronger in God and less in money and houses.

AVIATION HIGH SCHOOL JUNIORS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR RUNNING START! For those who may not have heard, Aviation High School has recently had a policy change that now permits juniors to participate in the Running Start Program. In the past, AHS has limited participation to just seniors, whereas all other high schools in the Highline School District have been offering it to both junior and seniors. If you have a son or daughter that will be a junior next year at AHS (or for that matter any high school in the district), it’s not too late to sign your child up for Running Start. With school having let out for the summer, I recommend you contact Max Silverman, who is the Director of High School programs for the district. He has been very involved with this policy change and I’m sure will be happy to answer any of your questions, as he’s done for me, and can help facilitate the paperwork (one single sided form…painless). Max’s email address is… silvermax@hsd401.org or he can be reached at 206-433-0111. For those of you who may not have heard of the Running Start Program, it is an opportunity for your child to earn college credits free of charge while also satisfying high school graduation requirements. It’s a great way to shave off college credits for free. For more information on the Running Start Program, click on the links below.
